Difference Between Dual Stage Coilovers and Regular Coils

Hey guys, i was looking online for some coilovers with some shocks, i was just wondering what's the difference between:

Dual Stage Coilovers that have the little extra spring piece at the top

vs.

Regular coilovers. without the extra spring piece at the top.

The helper spring is just for a little more comfort. IMO, it doesn't really do much.

all it does is keep the coil in constant contact with the cup and perches like a regualr spring. THis avoids the banging effect caused by the coil jumping when you hit a really big bump... But if you have good enough shocks this shouldnt happen anyway.

I think it also may provide a slightly better ride, like its trying to mimic a progressive rate spring.
