ya a/c, sunroof, cd player and ABS

rick - there was no body kit with any of the g's as far as i know, si-g, dx-g, or ex-g, they were just added options that came as a 'group', hence the g.

a/c and abs was never standard not even today...

lOOk

Si-G is an Si with Group Option Package.
same applies for ex-g and dx-g and what not.

My civic came with gold emblems (hence my cheesy name) and I thought it was an EX-G, but there's no sunroof or cd player. It's a 96, so maybe the first year sedans didn't have sunroofs in 6 gen platform.

The "-G" as SilverSiG pointed out is for Group Option Package (sometimes referred to GOP).

What is included depends on the the vehicle. However, skirts, gold emblems or moonroofs (sunroofs as some would say) are not part of any "G" package I am aware of.

The skirts and gold emblems are dealer added options that can be put on any car. No car from the factory comes with these. (Not even certain "Sport" models...they are later added by either an outside company or the dealer but not from the factory).

The moonroof comes with all Si, SiR coupes regardless of the option package and they were not available on 6th gen CDM sedans.

I hope this helps clear things up.

am i right in assuming then that Si-G is just one step down from the Si-R? or is the g just a coincidence cuz they wanted to add a letter....

Alex,

The "G" was just as an option package. Mechanically, the Si or SiG is one step down from the SiR, with the exception of ABS, that the "G" adds.

Special Editions are Canadian specific option packages usually put on LX models with popular option so, they can get rid of the aging vehicle line. For example the 99 Civic Special Edition was an LX with A/C and keyless remote entry added. It still had manual crank windows. I don't think there were any Special Editions in the '96 model year. It might have just been the 'badge'.
