okay, i recently bought a 1993 honda civic dx coupe. Its my winter project and it does not have power steering. I dont know if it was taken out and the power steering column was left in. I thought that all civic coupes came with power steering because they were a bigger car then the hatchs. How can i figure out if my car used to have power steerinmg? any help would be greatly appreciated

easiest way to tell.... see if there is a bracket left in place by the driver's side engine mount... a bracket that looks to be about right for a 3/4 inch hose to be going through it. Odds are is someone took it out, they wouldn't have removed that.

other option of course, is to look under the hood (or under the car maybe) and see if your rack is a power steering rack (with the high pressure hoses and fittings on it) or a manual one (sans fittings).

also, manual tranny DX was no pwr steering, and auto tranny DX was power steering.

okay, i will take a look at the steering rack, and there is no motor in there otherwise i would look at the bracket >< Also, my car is a 5 speed dx model so i guess no power steering? thanks bruno!

my dx hatch (5speed)came with ps..

mattharper, p/s was an option you could choose... if you got a base DX coupe with no options, it would have no power steering.

that's why it's easiest to check by visual inspection.
