Angry DC Stainless header help

hey eveyone, I have a 4-2-1 stainless DC header for about a year now and it has gone from the hazy purple colour to a brown dull colour. Is this typical? is there anything I can use to make it look more decent? I've tried mothers metal polish on a little spot and it didn't do anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it oxidizing with little spots all over or is it just turning colour? My DC Sports cat-back is full stainless and has lasted through the last 3-4 years without much change. You can expect to see spots show up if it's not cleaned regularly as stuff sticks to the heated metal (such is the case on my mid-pipe) and you can expect the stainless finish to discolour as the years go by.

To get rid of that surface mess, give it a good scrubbing when it's cool with soap and water, dry it off and then try some Nevr-Dull on it. If that doesn't do anything, you can always try some 000 or 0000 steel wool on it.

After that, the only other option is to take it off and soak it with some Simple Green or something similar.

Go get some heat wrap (that woven stuff you often see wrapped around a header or headers. It will cover up the ugly finish and actually might help the performance of your car out by deflecting heat away....

As for the discolouration......it's the nature of the beast....all stainless steel stuff with that type of heat coming off of it and into it.....does that

Yep get the heat wrap or enjoy the purple color, which is due to the heat and it's effect on the steel.

has anyone heard of fireball coatings? my boss says that it's a place in the GTA, apparently it comes with a lifetime warrenty. I figure since the stainless looks like crap now, I might as well have them coated, has anyone heard of these guys or used them? they were apparently featured in the Performance Improvements monthly mag that comes in the mail
