d16y8 engine/tranny swap costs

Hey guys, i'm looking into doing an eninge swap in my wifes hatchback. It's got a lot of kms on it but runs perfectly. I'm thinking sohc VTECH or just another regular D16. Does anyone know the costs on this swap vs. the D16?. I'm thinking transmission also. Thanks for the help.

If it's running fine, then why swap it?

I'd leave the trusty ol y7 in there, and maybe just upgrade the tranny to a y8 or z6 peice to give her some better gearing. you know Honda engines go forever so it'd be silly to swap.

Yeah you've got a point. It's a little noisy but doesnt burn oil or anything. Maybe i'll just swap the tranny and call it a day. $ is tight. Anybody have any good transmission hookups?? I live near Peterborough, so I need a place that can ship. Thanks again.

if the noise is a ticking sound you probably just need a valve adjustment.

But if it's running fine, then why replace the engine with the same one (or slightly more powerful one)?? Is it really a modification if you replace stock parts that don't need replacing?
