D16y8 -> D16y7

During the summer my 96' snapped a belt, I got a good deal on a non v-tec D16Y7. I put it in along with the SI' intake manifold.
I left the P2P ecu in there and the car hasn't been running properly. If I get just the D16Y7 ecu, will it plug and play or are the DX/CX harness's different other then the vtec wiring?
Thanks for the help,
-Dom

i
'll sell u a p2p ecu... i am doing a swap this weekend and i am swapping out my d16y7... i have other parts available...

EDIT:

and yeah, it will just plug in, but it depends if the vtec is still wired up from the previous ecu... more than likely not because there would be nowhere to wire it up to...

as long as its obd2a it will plug into your harness, regardless if you're wiring harness has wiring for vtec or not.
Did you use a new intake manifold gasket when you swapped in the SI intake manifold?
You say your car isn't running properly...but whats it doing?

the vtec ecu is somehow giving 15psi boost to a non vtec engine.

for civics:
88-91 obd 0
92-95 obd 1
96-98 obd 2a
99-00 obd 2b

What do you mean "the vtec ecu is somehow giving 15psi boost to a non vtec engine."?
Did you check this with a vacuum guage?

So I threw in Mike's old DX ecu in my 96' and the car runs like **** again. I put my P2P back in and the car runs decent.
Should I swap in a DX harness also? I don't see how it will make a difference but maybe it will?
