d15b7-d16y8 swap?
What are all the things I would need to do this swap? Would my d15 tranny fit up to the d16?
yup.....d-series is pretty much interchangable....
is the b7 vtec??? cuz if not, youll have to wire for the y8's vtec
d15b7 is not vtec, he'll have to get an ecu to run the vtec, p28 I guess
yes the d16 is vtec. So the tranny will match up.. good. As for the ecu, it is coming with the motor, not sure what ecu it is yet though. So other than the computer, its pretty much a straight drop in? For the vtec ive heard u can wire a switch in so u can turn it on/off? is this possible
.... turn it off :shrugs: why would you want to?
It's best to let the ECU control vtec.
Either get a P28 or mod your current DX computer to run vtec. If you need your ECU modded shoot me a PM. |
iight thnx
u would need to switch the wiring froom your b7 to the y8 and also wire up a knock sensor as well as the vtec wiring
A little off topic but what the difference between the d16z6 and the d16y8?
D16Z6 is from 1992-1995 125 hp
D16Y8 1996-2000 and 127 hp I think |
So all i really have to do is wire up the vtec solenoid?
your tranny will fit, but it's geared pretty high, if you want better gearing you should find a Si tranny too... I left my engine but swapped in a JDM Si (LSD) tranny
so im getting the motor sometime this week, the computer that is coming with it is right off the car. with the harness from my 95 plug and play with the 97 ecu? the car was an automatic, ive heard that when u put an auto computer into ur standard car it eliminates the rev limiter and governer. anyone ever heard of this?
dont use that ecu, its gonna be a biotch to wire up, like said earlier, get yourself a p28. The ecu u are getting is not plug and play. Are u getting an si tranny? cuz if so i have one for sale :p
