d15b2->a little more

i want to build my little d15b2 a bit, so far i have a intake, and a si tranny, i dont need my car to be super quick because its my everyday driver, i just want it to have a bit more pep.
If anyone could suggest what mods to do to my d15b2 that would be great>thanks

91 dx... do a manifold and MPFI swap with the Si computer

civicdx 14-Oct-2004 09:58 PM

thanks ill look into the mpfi swap........
i also heard that you can put a sohc vtec head on and non vtec block its called the mini me is that true??

bbarbulo 15-Oct-2004 09:16 AM

that is also correct... you will need a P28 computer and a OBD0-OBD1 harness to be able to plug it all in... and regardless, you'd still have to swap to MPFI :D

bbarbulo 15-Oct-2004 09:19 AM

here is an idea on how it's all done, except you'd have to do extra wiring cuz you have a 91 dx... so on top of that, you'd have to do the MPFI swap, PLUS the VTEC wiring, PLUS the OBD0-OBD1 wiring. However, all those things can easily be researched cuz they are very similar to when doing a B16A swap in your year car.

But look here first:

thanks alot for the link on the mini me.

I searched up mini me and found out i dont have to convert to obd1 i just need a vtec controller. i also found out i will need a adjustable cam gear or else i will be off 1/2 a tooth.
but im confuzed on what timming belt i should use the the d15b2, some say vx and others says d16z6.

i am wondering if i would break 16 in the quarter mile with the mpfi swap, intake, and mini me.
thanks for all your replies

i have decided not to go with the mini me because there is alot of wireing and i also heard that they are not that reliable. I heard that the d16a6 head will give me a little more power do to its more aggressive camshaft and better valve springs.
im also going to put a 98 civic si exhuast manifold i heard they will make a little more power.
thanks alot for your help

no prob... your decision is a good one, but really all that work makes me wonder... why not just get a DOHC ZC swap for like $500??

civicdx 17-Oct-2004 10:38 PM

i want to its just that i dont have alot of time or money on my hands and ive also got all the mpfi parts off one of my buddies, and my other friend said he would just give me his a6 head. so now all i really need is a more agressive exhaust manifold maby from a d16z6 or y8.
well thanks for all yur help bbarbulo

no prob... now if you're getting a free head, maybe it would be good to spend the money you saved there to freshen it up a little... you know, a slight port and polish, new valve guides/seals.... general clean up! :)

civicdx 18-Oct-2004 03:50 PM

srry for all the questions but i was just wondering how much do you think it would cost (roughly) to get all that done to the d16a6 head, thanks alot

bbarbulo 18-Oct-2004 04:02 PM

general cleanup... I'd guess $200-300 :shrugs:
