D15 mini me question
i have a 88 civic dx stock d15 motor and i was wonderin...if i bought a si top end would it fit on my motor so i could put a v-tec on it? cuz i no thaat it could be done with a d16 but can it be done with a d15?:shrugs:
|
I'm sure it can but I'm not sure on things like head gasket and any required modifications
|
i looked into it before and i dunno what i was thinking. it is torqueless and doesn't end up having the power of a z6.. my oppinion
on the other hand yes it can be done... im shure it takes the same parts as a a6 mini me but don't quote me on that... |
ZC_hatch ? WHAT are you talking about,
I have had both a mini-me and y8 in my civic, and found the mini-me pulled harder bro... Mikey, buy a y8 head, they are easier to install and you dont have to notch the dizzy like the z6, also better intake manifold, and way better cam in the y8.. |
red90dx my buddy is selin me the si top end so im grabbin that and i hav to grad the intake manifold and the gaskets but is it worth it? like how much hp?
|
horsepower gain .. I'd have to guess at around 20 to 30 at the top end....
seriously though there bigger issue would be reliability since this is the major issue |
shoudl be reliable as long as your not runnign the **** outta it...jsut remember ti's not like you swapped in a newer motor you bottom end still has lot's of km's I presuming so....it is different than the ls/vtec cause the rod stroke is better....the d15 bottom has an even better rod stroke to the d16 so I hear...:listen: just do it right leik wiht the real vtec ecu yada yada if you want the full benefits....maybe get a vafc to tune the vtec activation point and fuel curve seeign how your compression will be raised to the low to mid 10:1's
|
you will not get 20-30 hp out of a d16a6 head, esp if you have not utilized MPFI, if your car is still dpfi you will not be able to run vtec as well and actually underfuel the car.

alright thanks alot guys
