Need Advice : Custom Exhaust

I'm looking into getting custom exhaust done on my civic. I bought an Universal BOMZ N1 Style Muffler at Pac Mall last weeekend and now I wanna put it on..

I live in Waterloo, the best place I found is Mufflerman.. They are charging me $320 /w taxes for the whole thing.. Which includes a 2 1/4" pipe from just past the cat, I guess there is a pipe that goes from the cat (flange) , its about a foot long and its bigger than the rest of the piping.. They want to connect the 2 1/4" pipe to that and take it all the way back to the muffler.. They are saying they can't put it right up to the cat because they don't have the flange or whatever.. So it's costing me $320 for this cat-back exhaust, but its alluminized not stainless.. It would be an extra $150 for stainless.. Now i'm not sure what to do.. What have other people done for 7th generation civics? If someone can help me out.. maybe even provide me with some shops in the GTA that I can get it done cheaper/better, i'd be willing to do that.

Thanks

Just got mine done at

Auto Express and Muffler Shop
1529 Warden Ave. (Warden & Ellesmere)
(416) 293-5518

Ask for sam tell him the guy with the black del Sol sent you.

He made a custom alum pipe from the cat to my universal (Alum is better I think cuz it won't rust) Watched him weld it and install it.

Pretty cool, only charged me $100 Midas wanted almost twice that.

He can do bending, welding, and has a whole whack of flanges and stuff. Loost of piping there, and there's all these cool engines sitting along the wall to look at while you wait!

that's aluminized pipe, not aluminium... big difference, and it'll rust just the same... though it'll take a bit loger to start. You'll never see a muffler shop weld aluminium.

since it's an lx, our cat is one piece with the exhaust manifold and there is a "downpipe" (if i can call it that) that is 2.25" that hooks up to the 1.5" exhaust pipes. i'm assuming they're going to start from there and do the new piping all the way to the muffler.

advice i'd suggest, see if they can route the pipe down the center of the car and then to the side and over the axel, then it's less obtrusive and less chance you'll be scraping it if you're lowered.... also, if you want to gain a bit, you could always convert tot he Si exhaust style by cutting the stock cat off the manifold, and getting a true downpip welded onto it and then getting a highflow cat put on down near the sway bar.......

i got quoted around 200 for the whole job at minute muffler (i think that's the name) it's by king and university in waterloo..... basic 2.25" aluminized piping......

hope this helps.

I got it done, and it sounds and looks amazing!!!
It cost me $270/w taxes --

They took out my stock piping, and put in 2.25" piping right from the cat to my muffler.. I got about 4" clearance around the axel, so I gotta watch out on speed bumps and messed up driveways.. all i gotta do is come in on an angle.. but other than that, everything sounds and looks awesome.. this BOMZ muffler is truely amazing.. awesome deep sound, and its not THAT loud, but it is loud.. especially going 140km/h on the highway, its pretty annoying after a while.. I think this is where the silencer will come into place.. pics will be up soon.. trying to get a digital camera ..

Hey Sedanboy, what type of exhaust set up do you have now?

I vouch for this place as well. They did some mods to the exhaust system on my old EL and the work was done really well.

I'm pretty sure it's all Aluminum, Sam is also an Aluminum welder, he has one of those, you have to attach a charge to it, looks like a giant jumper cable and then you can weld.
