Crx Hf

Hi, I'm totally new to the honda community. Just wondering what engine would be compatible to be installed in a 1986 CRX HF?

Thanks

uhhh, I didnt think we got HFs up here in Canada, but still, I think the D16A1 out of the 1st gen integra would be a direct bolt in (same as into any 3rd gen civic/CRX), its a DOHC too.....

screw swapping motors in that lil beast...this is what I would do with that 1st gen...swap that lil baby carb on it for a nice mikuni or webber dual side draft setup or get the canadian carb Si head, intake mani, exhaust mani and oil pan and get the stock carb race prepped with a bigger jet...add a cam (there are a couple companies out there that have em) and you will have a lil screamer and no converting to fuel injection headaches.

unless u wanna put in a carb zc motor...my 86 CRX was a quick lil bugger with the race prepped carb and all vacuum lines for emmissions removed...damn I miss that car

Cool What kinda numbers were you looking at.

I wanted to go FI because it's more efficient.

look in your engine bay and tell me how much space is in there...next to none and thats with a 1.5 sohc motor...a zc motor is pretty crammed in there when its in but it does fit...if u want fuel injection be prepared for changing the ENTIRE fuel system (pump, all lines, wiring) then u will need to wire up the computer and all that...which is a super pain in the ***...

my old car used to be able to stick it to 2nd Gen crx Si...like it wasnt a rocket but it was quick and fun to drive

Hmm...I didn't know it was that crammed. Never looked under the hood of one of these.

So no B18C1 eh?

a b-series engine will fit...seriously shoe-horned in there though and all the custom shafts and crap u will need will blow the price through the roof

I've seen plenty of various motor configs from stock to turbo b-series, its all doable, just a matter of how bad u want it and how much u wanna spend...oh and if u wanna put a b-series upfront, upgrade the puny torsion bars with some 1st gen teg units

yes, they do make a mount kit, axles, shift linkage etc for the 1st gen...still costs more than 4 1st gens and u still would have to convert to fuel injection...if it was a 87Si I would say "go for it" but since its carb'd stick with the carb

You wanna run with the Big Boy's get a B motor. Sure it will be more of a Pain in the *** and There will be a ton of Wiring but its more worth it in the Long run. Even a B18A would rip in a car that light.

they all have hydro tranny...94+

u can use a cable tranny on it tho

in a 1st gen u dont need a b-series motor to hang...trust me, I handed a spankin to many b16a boys

you might want to check out http://www.redpepperracing.com they will help you. Any b series engine would make your car fly since it is so light weight.

Just buy a B-Cable tranny. And it will work with any b-series. Less of a hassle than converting it to hydraulic
