CRX Exhaust piping...

I did a search, and wasn't satisfied with what I read, so I need to ask a question.
I currently have an 88 rex with a d16a6...and I want to invest in a new exaust system. I am planning to drop a b16 in within the next 2 years...so I need to take that into consideration when buying.
I have heard people suggest replica MTL, apexi world sport, magnaflow, ect... What would be the best choice for the most performance gains, with a nice sound...but not too loud?

Also, I know with a SOHC motor, 2.25 piping would be the best bet, and with DOHC 2.5. What should I go with considering I won't be going DOHC for possibly another year or 2? I know people are going to say switch to 2.5 when you get the swap...but I only want to have to do this once. Much torque lost with 2.5 on my stock motor...or vice versa?
Open to all opinions, and thanks in advance

2.25" is what u need for B-series swaps...remember, back pressure is your friend in these torqueless Honda engines...not to mention thats what size piping that all the big name companies use for their cat back systems...2.5" is too big, u'r gonna lose out some bottom-mid rpm power like that

if u were goin forced induction then the 2.5-3" would be all good

2.5" is not too big if you have some bolt ons. I know people who have seen gains from switching to 2.5". I run 2.25 on my hatch and im looking for a ctr exhaust system. They sound like stock but when vtec kicks in they are prety damn loud.

CTR is THE BEST exhaust IMO u can get, next to a spoon n1 or Mugen twin loop.

full out race exhaust like the greddy titanium systems are 70mm (2.75") and the normal street exhausts are 60mm (2.3")...its all relative to what u wanna use the car for, for daily useage I'd go for the slightly smaller dia. but for a race application when ur gonna be in the upper rpm band u will benefit more from the larger size

well it was quite a bit better then the stock exhaust. i can't vouch for the 2.25 because i never tried it but i had no problem with the 2.5.

i also had a header and intake.

You said with 2.5, you will gain in the upper RPM. Does that mean you lose on low end power?

ya you'll lose some low end but its only a d16a6, its not that fast off the bat anways, you'll be fine with 2.5 inch, no point changing your exhaust a few times when you don't need to
