Crx alternator plug ?

Hey guys, need your help !

I am upgrading my alternator form a stock 65amps to 140 amps. I am building a stereo so I need the extra juice.
Now the alternator that I bought has custom built internals. The guy told me that I don't need to use the plug, only connect the positive terminal plug, and away you go..supposedly the alt is built without using the plug...

Anyways, I was wondering what the green plug is used for ???

This is what the plug looks like: (you can barely see the green plug in this pic)

that plug is nessasary for proper operation, unless the alternator is built special some how, i believe there are a couple of grounds, one is a power at ignition and one is a warning light, that goes to your dash

this alt is custom built and it is self exciting so it does not use the harness.

Someone on crx resource helped me on this one:

"The other plug only controls the voltage regulator. Chances are, this alternator runs at 140 AMPs all the time...with no voltage regulator. You don't need the other plug to have current flow. The positive terminal goes to the battery...the ground is that actual case off the alternator where it attaches to the engine bracket." --crx resource

yep...1 wire alternators are used by hot rodders all the time, keeps engine clutter to a minimum
