Cross-Drilled Rotors

I recently installed 4 new cross-drilled rotors with brake pads.

I notice that I have to press harder on my peddle for the brakes to work?

is that normal?

usually when you go from old brakes to new.. it feels a bit more stiff. Its normal if you are experiencing that.

Does the pedal sink lower than before?

imported_jeev155 26-Jul-2006 11:24 PM

yes

if your pedel is traveling farther to the floor i would suggest bleeding the brakes

imported_jeev155 26-Jul-2006 11:26 PM

it was bled.

did you top up the brake fluid in the reservoir after they were bled, because if not then all the air just got put back in the system

the peddle sinks?

or is hard/stiff? There's a complete difference in the two.

sinking pedal means master cylinder.. or a leak

did u change ur pads as well? cause ur pads probably has old grooves from ur old rotors and right now with a brand new rotor ur pads arent 100% touching the rotor therefore u have to press harder for the car to stop, know what i mean?

chris_si98 26-Jul-2006 11:52 PM

we have floating calipers.. it would eliminate that extra space

imported_Joe_98Si 26-Jul-2006 11:55 PM

^^ ya enless he compressed the caliper piston in that case you just have to pump the pedal a couple times to press the pads into place
