Exclamation crazy chattering when I go in reverse ... why?

when I drive forward my car feels great ... maybe a little slipage in the clutch but not much
however when I put it in reverse it makes a loud chatter noise like two metal plates are hitting each other
car feels and drives great otherwise
could this be my clutch needing replacement or is something wrong with my tranny?

any help is appreciated

good question, i dont even know why it happens, ive been thru like 3 tranny's and a few clutches and my car always did that, just use another gear before u put it into reverse, for example: clutch down, put it into first, then right into reverse

this is what your suppose to do, when you want to use reverse, put the clutch down and drop it in 4th gear, then switch to reverse, i dont' know why honda's do this, or maby it's just civics, because it does this to me, my friends acura, and my cousins accord

the gears are not spur cut, they are straight cut. so it can make a wining noise.. Unless its a different noise you are talking about.

If you are talking about unable to shift into reverse, and just when you thought you did and gave some gas then the grinding sounded, it is has happened to me before as well.

But after I switched engine mounts, this problem has sort of, disappeared. Shifting into reverse has been rather easy but this needs further testing.
