crankshaft timing mark

Hi Ed here:
Question
Setting valve clearance on 90 si 1.6 as per Honda manual.
Everything lines up as per the manual except the TDC mark on crank. It's out by about 1/8 of an inch. Relatively new timing belt.
Do i go ahead and set the clearances?

no! you have to be absolutely positive you are at TDC...

and the crank has a keyway, so it CAN'T be off. If you have a timing sprocket, that could explain it... or you're looking at the wrong angle??

I dunno, but be sure you have TDC... if need be, check for TDC using a feeler gauge, so where it's loosest, that valve is closed fully and you can adjust it.

Hi Ed here: thanks for the tips.
I was looking at the wrong angle all is well . I set it up no problems.
Once again thanks.

One thing you have to remember is too look at the motor on an angle if thats the way it sits, first time I ever did timing on a motor it was a mitsu 2.0L and forever i couldn't get the damn thing to line up.....till i tilted my head a bit and looked at it the way it sits properly in the vehilce.
