control arm bushing repair

just wondering how difficult it is to change the bushings on my lower control arm. it doesnt look that hard but sometimes it does always work that way. if so are there any helpful hints that would make it easier thank for the help.

take the lower control arm off and press out the bushing then press in the new bushing....voila
If you don't have a press just take it somewhere that does have one, trust me, don't try to cut the bushing out of the LCA its a royal PITA.

Pressing the bushings out isnt that easy depending on how rusted everything is. If your having a problem the best way is to torch it so the rubber falls out and then cut the outer metal sleeve and peel it out. The sleev is a tight fit in the bore or the lca so cutting a slot in it lets it get smaller and therefore easy to get out. And remember when removing even slightly rusted parts, heat is your best friend.

Or you could drill the old bushing out with a hole saw, then with a hack saw insert the blade and cut the bushing sleeve out. Putting them back in is done with a vice and lube thats included with the bushing kit.

Or for about $40-50 more than the cost of the bushings you can buy the complete arm with the bushings in it, and save yourself a hold lot of hassle!
