Concerns Abouts GSR brake Swap
 

Planning on doing a full GSR Brake swap on a 99 Sedan. Yes I have read all the threads I could find on this subject. Basically I am concerned as to whether or not I will be able to use my Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs, and Tokicko Illuminas. Since the pretty much the whole suspension is being swapped I was checking the sites for Eibach and the part number for the springs are different then Integras. Might not even be worth it to swap brakes if I am goin to need new performance springs and shocks. Any info would be great.

From what I have read on the subject, I think it's easier to use SIR parts then GSR just because SIR parts are basic bolt-on.

i think u will have to use some washers ti fit the gap in between your rear struts where they bolt to the LCA, other then that it will be a simple swap.

Yeah well its pretty obvious the SIR swap is bolt on.. but people say the GSR brake swap is bolt on too... Just the springs and shocks I am worried about. I'lll check it out Kieran ... but if any others know anything let me know

you can keep your suspension cause you have to keep your original ek rear lower arm for the swap. I'm pretty sure but call one of the Affiliates just to make sure

i wouldn't think the gsr suspension would be a bolt on affair for a 6th gen civic... not in the rear anyways... they have totally different rear lca styles...


so you will be able to use your springs you have but not your shocks as they dont attach to the gsr style rear lca's... i dont even think the gsr lca's will fit

the trailing arms are the same part numbers, and all you do is bolt the EK lower control arms to the GSR trailing arms. and you can reuse your shocks and whatnot.

BBarbulo if that is correct then you are the man! That would make sense since I've been hearing that this swap should be straight bolt on, and why there are different part numbers for my aftermarket shocks for the Civic and Integras.

if you look, there exist full shock kits that are shared between EG/EK and DC2 platforms. the only diff is the width of the rear fork, the EG/DC2 rear shocks being slightly wider than the EK ones. but reusing the EK rear lower control arm, you retain the same size bushng, therefore the same shock fork. even if that fails, all you have to do is press out the shock bushing from the GSR lower control arm (LCA) and press in a EK bushing (such as the energy suspension peice).

in any case, don't sweat it, the swap is possible. buy the parts and deal with the problems as they arise.
