Compression vs. fuel

The Prelude runs at a stock compression of 10:1, what I want to know is what kind of compression can I push through it and still maintain stability at 94 octane gas?

This is my daily driver, and I really don't want to have to add octane boost at every fill up, nor do I really want to reduce the integrity of a pretty reliable motor. I do drive atleast 600 km weekly.

this would be a good question for bruno

when i was looking into building up a motor i was told on my d16 i could run 12:1 cr and still use 94 octane with a slightly retarded timing... i'd imagine it would be the same for you beast of a motor...

10.5:1 would be as high as I would go. Detonation is not always audible, so I wouldn't take any chances. JMO. You rebuilding your engine? Saw a picture of the RL. Looks good!

Not rebuilding yet...still not sure what route I plan on going...need further research before I spend that kind of money. Next is a complete suspension upgrade for me, I already think my ball joints are gone AGAIN.

I would like to have a current compression test done on my car, to see what is going on today.

Anybody know where I can get that done??

11.5:1 is the max for h22a, but u can't just shave the head to this cuz that's a lot. u better get type S piston and shaved down to around 11:1 CR and u will running around 11.5:1 CR. some of my friend and mechanics' car running this compression, some b18c running like crazy 12:1 still using 94 octane, just retard ur timming and u r fine

11:1 is the highest I'd go .. ... unless you want to by race gas in 50 gallon drums...

I can do a comp. test for you, if you can get to the shop. I think Jeff has a rough idea where it is.
