AEM is good choice, get the by pass valve, just to be on the safe side

I had a no generic one, but now I have an AEM. The only difference I noticed, was that the AEM is just designed better. It looks nicer, fits better, and has better bends, welds, and brackets. The HP difference was negligible. The generic was louder, and it was bigger in diameter causing a tiny bit low end power loss. I wouldn't bother with the bypass valve unless you plan on driving through some really deep water. I have heard all of the automotive urban myths about hydrolock, but I have never met anyone that it actually happened to. I found my AEM for dirt cheap used, otherwise I would have just stuck with the generic one, and bought a KN filter. My thoughts anyway.

Unless you like driving through huge puddles, I personally would skip the bypass valve. But some people just worry with a CAI and driving during the rain, so if your like that, just get the bypass valve to give you that added comfort. Its not that much more anyways
