coilovers

i wanna change my coilovers that are on my original dampers with the original springs so the car is standing higher for the car inspection. does somebody know how to remove the front suspension on a EG coupé?

the car is ready, i know which bolts i have to remove and stuff, but there another prob, i can't get some of those bolts loose, not even with release oil, it's like they are rusted up. any advice?

Heat up the bolts with a torch, apply water then try it again with an impact gun or a breaker bar.

Just a suggestion.

it could help on the bolts that hold the suspension arms, but not on the bolts that hold the brakelines, thx for the suggestion, gonna try to find somebody with a torch

You need to remove brake line? Why? Oh... maybe you are doing other things at the same time as well.

no but the krakeline is bolted on the suspension with 2 bolts, is on every car with disks i think, it's to prevent the brake line to move and get stuck between something.

With the car in the air on safety stands:
1)Remove the axle nut (32mm socket, impact gun)

2)lower ball joint cotter pin and the lower ball joint nut(17mm socket, impact gun).

3)Separate the lower ball joint from the lower control arm, being careful not to kink, bend, break any brake lines or ABS sensor lines and remove the axle from the hub.

4)Unbolt the lower fork bolt that goes through the lower control arm(17mm socket, impact gun, 17mm wrench)

5)Unbolt the shock pinch bolt(12mm) and remove the fork from the shock, letting it sit on top of the LCA

6)Unbolt the upper spring perch(top hat) from the body of the car (2x14mm nuts, hand rachet) and remove the spring/shock assembly from the car.

If your going to reinstall your OE springs onto your stock shocks you might need to use a spring compressor.
Also if you have a service manual it should show you the disassembly/assembly procedure for the spring/shock unit.

i've tried impact guns and stuff, i have broken 17mm wrenches on it, not kiddin', those bolts are stuck as hell, can't get them loose. i know what i need to do and which bolts have to be loosened, but they are stuck.

LOL bring it to a tech. If it's bad enough that you have to torch it then you'll probably have to change the bushings aswell.

ehehe, i did it, suspension is removed, didn't use a torch or impact gun, with some rough power and the right tools, you can do anything :D
