Coilovers

anyone have weapon r coilovers? or ractive?
hows the ride? how much did you pay for em? any modifications when you installed? on a 6th gen

SiR-Racer 12-Aug-2002 11:36 AM

i'd stay away from Ractive. Go with Ground Control or Skunk2.

TERZRIDE 12-Aug-2002 10:05 PM

..Dude, I had Ractive coilover's on my '88 civic, and they were a bitch to install, and the ride was very bouncy. I've since sold the car, and now have a '89 si. I just bought R1 coilovers brand new for $250 cash, and from what I've heard, they are WAY better than my 1st pair. Here's hoping...

I have R1's on my car....I say not too bad for the price you pay
If you want a feel, just give me a shout at the meet

Any opinions on Tom Coilovers? I hear a lot of good stuff about them.

Now besides Skunk 2 and Ground Control the others I was looking at most others should be about the same no? the spring rates will obviously be high as all hell.

imported_eric 13-Aug-2002 01:22 AM

the skunk2s that i have have 400 and 500lb rates

imported_lxsedan 13-Aug-2002 04:23 AM

The Tom Coilovers supposedly have

450 Front and 350 rear.

I am leaning towards these cuz they are so cheap and hear good things. Common now somebody jump all over me like a 10$ ***** and say something about em :D

R1 and TOMs Coils

I was at Automotive Warehouse the other day and the guy that worked there and he said R1s and TOMs are manufactured by the same company? He even had pics of TOMs and R1s and they looked the same to me... On top of that he says he as TOMs on his ride and the packaging (boxes, etc...) that came with his TOMs Coils is the same as the ones as the R1s. So I dunno... you decide.

A friend of mine paid $160 for R1's brand new at performance world (I think). For the price he paid they're not too bad at all compared to ractive, apc, etc....

Even if they are manufactured by the same company, most companies have a GOOD, BETTER, BEST system.

But from what you've said, it sounds like TOMS and R1s are the same...

I know that chrysler has a system where if a part is not perfect but it is still good they use it for dealerships for replacement parts.
