coilover setup recommendations
:hide: Hi Guys i'm recent to this forum and plan on joining the TCC club in the very near future when i have time to come to a meet or do anything... My question is I have a 02 civc LX-G, and i would like to get a full coilover setup for my car @ some point and as of now i am just looking for ne suggestions... I would like to have a setup whereas i can just leave it as is according to whatever setup i get pertaining to ride height etc... I know if i want to just leave the setup alone as is, i would need a non-ajustable set however can anyone give me any recommendations for a type of coil-over set that would suit what I am looking for? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... :shrugs:

There are so many and most are adjustable anyways, but budget will severly limit which ones you'd be able to get.
Cheap coilovers are Omni at about $1000 and expensive can go up into the $3000+ range. Most are $1000-$1600 and include Tein, KW, Omni, etc. Then some are $1600-$2500 and include some Tein, Buddy Club, etc so budget really limits options. By the sound of it, you don't need a stiff suspension and would be better off with something relatively soft rates, Tein may fit the bill but they are usually expensive for what you get. Springs/shocks may also fit the bill alittle better too. 7thgencivic.com could help more since the 7th gen went with struts it changed alot of options that the 6th gen has. |
Unfortunately with suspension, most companies work from the top down and make the adjustable models first for new applications. In your case, best bet might be to go with a shock and spring combination if you don’t need the damper adjustability.
We Here is pics of a set of the Megan Racing Full coilovers we installed ( 32 way dampening) on an 01 Civic. http://www.teknotik.com/item_imgs/1139587126org.jpg http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/2166/img04787va.jpg http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/8042/img04575kg.jpg http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/7681/img04694qv.jpg |
I've read ALOT of good reviews on the Megan coilovers. I know a guy who ditched his Tein coilovers for the Megan ones and loves them.
If I was to get coilovers for my 03, they would be Megan. |
There are two people on Club EL running the megans on 1.7EL's, one posted a review and seems to like them, especially for the price.

Thx guys i really appreciate all the advice given... I guess the next step for me would be if and when i am able to make it to a meet, is to pretty much ask around for who has the kind of setup i'm looking for and ask them how they like it... As for the issue of $, the most i'd like 2 spend is prolly aroun 1k or mayb a little bit more depending on what i can get, and how it will affect my car... If anyone has any more futher recommendations or has a better idea for what i should have then i certainly encourage the suggestions...
My car once again is a 02 LX-G civic with about 85k+ miles on it and has no mods as of yet.. appreciate the advice... |
Yeah, Megan ones seems to be really good, and you can get them for about 1200. Decent price for full coilovers that rocks!

I had a friend (BigB) on LAC and gen7 that was running on progress coils before...the ride was awesome...I have ground controls with tokico illuminas...my ride is solid too!!! not sure that they even make those for your car tho...

Well for my situation because my car is a daily driver, i'd ideally like to swap the coilovers in and out during winter times with the stock suspension, but that would be pretty pricey and time consuming. So i'm looking into various options slowly and i'd like to bring my car out to meet hopefully soon so i can join whenever that maybe...

Only thing that stays on is the 23mm rear sway bar and ASR brace. |
KW Variant 1 : Height adjustable, rust free, distributors located in Canada. Should be of better construction than Megan. Cost 1350$ from kw retail... So im sure you can find it for cheaper.
good luck |
