Coilover Assembly???

ok, so I just put my Koni / Ground control coilovers together for installation this week and I'm confused... GC makes a special set for Koni yellows where the threaded sleeve slides over the shock body and sits on the clip ring, the front ones were actually a bitch to slide all the way down and are on so tight, but the rear ones slide on so easy that the sleeves spin easily on the shock body, I can see this being a problem when I'm trying to spin the ring to adjust my ride height (I think). I know I didn't miss any parts so I don't know if there's something I should be shoving in there or if it will be ok once the car sits on it.

was there any other rubber washers/spacers you got to use?

StewPiddass 19-Jul-2004 10:06 PM

nothing that came with the GC box, just got threaded sleeves, threaded ring, springs, a big rubber for the top of the spring and the allen key to tighten it. And I'm guesssing there wouldn't be anything in the Koni boxes for this.

thanx for the quick answer Matt

whatcha doin Friday???

Maybe Jason wants to help too... Jason?!?

(he probably won't ever help me again...) LOL

imported_gatherer 19-Jul-2004 10:21 PM

you probably got the rear ones on the front.... since the konis are a different diameter from front to back...

StewPiddass 19-Jul-2004 10:26 PM

nope, the sleeves are different, front ones are about 5" long and the rears are about 8" long, diameter is the same though

have fun at nationals?

imported_gatherer 19-Jul-2004 11:00 PM

not really but I'll write about it when I get a chance...

ok so the size is different hmmm I say listen to Dave on the hada board and do what he suggested then ... :p

punkindrublic 19-Jul-2004 11:07 PM

it could be those rubber washer things... those toms coils came with a plethera of them... and without them your pretty sol on adjusting height... i realised this yesterday but i only put 1 washer on one of my rear assemblies and thats the one thats a biotch to adjust :notfair:

:dito: when I had GC years ago, they came with a pile of o rings and urethane sleeves. depending on your shock combo, you had to use diff't combinations to make it work.

StewPiddass 20-Jul-2004 09:46 PM

mine didn't come with any other stuff because they're made to fit right on the snap ring of the Koni Yellows
