Budget?

kwikb16a2 23-Sep-2005 11:20 PM

omni power makes coilovers for 7th gens?

movielover 24-Sep-2005 08:44 AM

2g.

movielover 24-Sep-2005 09:05 AM

do tein ss or basic had damping adjusting and i hear tein often rust on the spring its that right?

Nova_Dust 24-Sep-2005 10:34 AM

2G can get some some really nice coilovers. You are in the league of Buddy Club range now.

Dampening isn't really necessary unless your car is both daily driver and track racer. That's from my experience.

I've all but bad things about omni coil-overs. They supposedly have a high chance of snapping. Do a forum search on H-T, a lot of guys there have had problems with their omni coil-overs.

EDIT: also, my friend had omni's on his '02 civic, and he had no problems with them.

movielover 24-Sep-2005 12:03 PM

i'm looking for something it daily driver but wont rust in the long run.

imported_t_dot_SiR 24-Sep-2005 12:10 PM

with 2g, you can go buddy club...

and for omni... i have heard nothing bad but good things....... its strange how its just the H-T group of people having the problem.. but not any (or much) of other car clubs (honda/civic/etc) have such kinda problem.....

i wouldn't take a few people or a group of people that doesn't make up a whole portion of population to judge a product..... installation problem such as using wrong torque, not done with proper equipment, lots of cases, or maybe that guy keep having sex in his car, then anything can snap anytime HAHAHAHAH)

Megan Racing makes also decent coilovers, the teins are electronically adjustable (damping).

DumbasSi 24-Sep-2005 03:14 PM

I've also read many good things about the Megan Racing coilovers on clubrsx and 7thgencivic.

get buddy club, or tein ss(elec adjustable) you have to buy another unit with it which is another $400-500 bucks i think.

movielover 24-Sep-2005 10:42 PM

do any of our affiliates carry buddy club or tein ss coilover? If so i rather get from them. i didnt know buddy club make 7gen coilover

imported_SaYjAiBaO 24-Sep-2005 10:52 PM

if you want electronically adjustable teins then you will have to fork out even more money for the edfc and wire it up to all 4 corners which is a pain in the ass. if you go tein, get the SS your putting out that much money already. just pay the extra and pick the SS over the non adjustable basics.

after hearing all the bad stuff about omni i think i will stay away from them for a while because it seems that they don't do enough testing before they release their products. and it's not just one of their products too, i've read so many bad experiences with omni products. being a new company, i'll give them time to iron their problems out.

check out megan racing coilovers too, they sound great for the price. they come with pillow ball mounts too to adjust your camber and have 32 levels of damper force adjustment. i'm seriously considering on buying these for my car next year.

I have a few coilover questions myself. If my new car plans go through, the only mod I plan on possibly doing is high-end fully adjustable coilover like Megan Racing, Tein SS, or something similar.

I'm wondering what is that major differences between some of the more expensive types of coilovers compared to say an Omni. More adjustability I assume? Height and damping/rebound? Better build quality?

And if they have the adjustable pillow balls mounts, does that mean camber kits are not necessary and that the adjustments are done through the mounts?

What about spring rates. Do high end coilovers have very high spring rates?

Cost? I'm guessing $1500+ for a good set.

The car will be daily driven and I don't want a really stiff ride, but I would like some adjustablity for a more sprited ride occasionally.

imported_SaYjAiBaO 25-Sep-2005 03:44 AM

i know the battle endless guys can sell megan racing coilovers for like 1350 and that comes with pillow mounts. you buy coilovers like buddy club you'll be paying 1500+ with pillow mounts. omni's are not adjustable so that's why they are cheaper. i'm not sure on bc coilovers or teins spring rates but i do know that the civic spring rate for megans are 12k in the front and 8k in the rear. and yes the adjustable pillow ball mount means you can adjust the camber and don't need a camber kit. i'm not sure about the rear though. i guess you can just do the washer trick? if you don't want something bumpy but like spirited rides occasionally then definately go with adjustables. with omni's you'll be stuck with that kind of ride no matter where you go.

DumbasSi 25-Sep-2005 05:19 AM

12k and 8 k are pretty high aren't they? I don't want something that's too stiff. I still want a comfortable ride. The roads in Hamilton are pretty crappy.

Brainwreck 25-Sep-2005 06:02 AM

the coilovers from megan racing are 32 way adjustable, that means, height and damping, also check the coilovers out from OBX Racing, they are also decent, they are in the same class as the megans

Brainwreck 25-Sep-2005 06:04 AM

the ones i have for the moment are APX, and they suck big time, as soon as i have the money, probably next month or so, i'm gonna buy KW's variant 2 or, megan racing or OBX R, but i will probably go for megans
