IS THAT the rubber boot im looking for? i got the multi purpose automotive grease, put it under there and prseed the clutch a few times, but its still there, the squeak is REALLY ANNOYING.. DUmbasSI had a pic in another one of these threads but its not there anymore....if that ISNT the boot where im supposed to grease, will it do any damage if i did grease under that boot? and what is that

its a hydro clutch.....best thing is to peel the boot back and grease it

YUp, that is the right boot. It covers the slave cylinder. On my old 98, it would require lubing once or twice a year. I used lithium grease, but something heavier might work better. If you lube it up good inside, the squeak should go away. If not, I'd recommend having it checked-out because it may be something else.

i usually just take the 2 bolts that hold the slave cylinder down to the tranny off and grease up the release bearing fork (where the slave sits inside of it) and the actual end of the slave cylinder itself and re-assemble. Its very simple to do and should only take 10 minutes or so.

what else could the squeak be?

ok ive lubed it pretty well, and the squeak remains... maybe i havent done a good job? what else could it be?

i was reading about the throwout bearing? .. could it be that.. how hard/expensive is tat to replace?

well if it only squeaks while pushing the pedal, it's prolly not a bearing. either the slave is gone, leaking a lil bit of fluid past the seals and washing out the grease, or you haven't really greased anything. if you blindly stuffed grease in the boot, odds are you didn't grease anything but instead made a mess. the slave has a ball at the end, the ball sits in like a cup on the release fork. you gotta get grease between the two. also what zeeman said is good practice.

do wat andrew says lubing it through the boot doesnt really do **** its a temp fix and sometimes doesnt actually work. take off the slave and lube it up (bleed out the system after 2 )

nope. The fluid is contained inside of the slave cylinder.

Stupid question, but what about on an automatic car? I have a squeel/sweak when I'm accelerating, and it's predominately when the car is switching gears. When I play with the accelerator, I can make it go away and be present depending on how deap I depress it.

that is not the point you want to lubricate. Yes that point needs grease, but that is not the most common spot for squeeks. It's the first grease point you see. In order to grease that point you got to remove the whole clutch fork to do it properly. Removing the clutch fork with the transmission still bolted up is not that easy, esp. with the fan in the way and little light to see what your doing. I do NOT recommend this what so ever.

Take the slave cylinder off (two 12mm bolts) at the end of it you'll see a ball. Grease that up. Then re-assemble. That's it. DO NOT remove the clutch fork.

are the bolts visible , is that part in the first pic, the rrusty cylindrical thing?
