clutch is squeaking
#5
I know how to fix this issue but bare with me as I've lost the terms to the parts.
When you open your hood, just in front of your radiator at the bottom there is this rubber boot with a small pipe going out, that's part of the hydraulic clutch, if you move the rubber boot aside, within there is a metal plate with a dent in it and a round ball that pushes that plate each time you press the clutch, I believe this is the fork. After a certain period of time, the ball wears down the metal in the plate and starts to squeek (don't be alarmed by the wear).
Usually you get this squeak after driving in the rain or driving through a big puddle.
To fix this, get some grease, push aside the rubber boot, put it inside the bulge/dent in the metal plate and that's it. Push your clutch a few times and the squeak is gone.
This squeak is louder on the outside then inside the car....and it is a major turnoff for people who are checking-out your car.
If anything, just email me email

If the sound is coming from the inside, lubricate the spring on the clutch pedal assembly.
If the sound is coming from the actual transmission, it could be a number of things, but most result in taking off the transmission to do so.
Squeaking from a cable type means the whole release shaft assembly needs to be lubricated.
Hydrualic usually means the clutch fork pivot point needs a lube job, or slave cylinder (this can be done without major dissassembly as maxxspeed was refering to). Otherwise, it could be the shaft that the Throwout bearing slides on.

Listen guys, its not the spring!
Read my post and that's what the problem is. You're not the first peeps to get this problem.
Open your hood, look down between the headers and the radiator, where the headers go from 4 to 1, look a bit left and you'll see the hydraulic clutch cylinder with a metal tube coming out of it. That has a rubber boot on it. If you move the boot aside, you'll find a rounded rod pushing into the shift lever. Between the shift lever and the rod is where the sound comes from. The grease has been washed out and makes a squeek. Put some grease in there.
I've fixed this for enough people already! Its not a new problem.
Hope you guyz get it fixed.

Best grease to use would be MP grease, multipurpose grease, but not for bearings. Its used for chassis components like susptension, balljoints, etc. Its waterproof and heat proof. So you won't have to worry about it being washed out.
