Clutch Problem on a 99 Honda Civic SI
I purchased an Exedy OEM clutch kit from a shop here in Toronto. When I asked for a 99 Honda Civic SI (my car) - they gave me the wrong kit - they gave me the 99 Honda Civic Si-R (Canada's Equiv of the SI in the US). The clutch plate fit fine, but the clutch cover was another story - the holes did not match up. So I went back and told them they were supposed to give me the Honda Civic SI clutch for Canada (running on the SOHC VTEC engine, D16Y8, as opposed to the Si-R which runs the DOHC VTEC engine b16A2 - in essence they should have given me the 99 Honda Civic EX clutch kit for the US in the first place).
My understanding is, the SI here in Canada = the EX engine in the US for the 99. The kit package installed in my car is 08012, and the clutch disc is HDC802U - the clutch cover didn't have a box with it (this kit was made to fit an early 90's-93's SOHC D series engine). When I asked for the 99 Honda Civic EX, they gave me this and said it would work perfectly -
Now, after the install - my car runs very very sluggish, it doesn't pick up as it used to, i have to change much quicker than I used to. The clutch pedal is also very loose. I just picked up the car today.
Can this be part related? What do you think is wrong?

for disengage/engaging - it does it on the onset of just touching the clutch a tiny bit - it's so looose that when i rest my foot on it - i can't tell if i'm engaging it or if it's "that give" you feel of looseness before it goes to neutral... if i were to ride my clutch now, there's very little chance to, there's about 2-3 inches of pressure between engaging and disengaging, before i had it from the clutch down to the floor to full release to ride it.
i've heard alot of people tell me to break it in/bleed it out - mech said i have to break it in but i've never heard of clutches being like this after install -
