Clutch creaks

Everytime I press the clutch in, it makes a creaking sound, almost like a rust hinge sound. If I listen under the hood while some one is pressing the clutch in, the sound is coming right from the transmission, just under where the distributor is. The clutch/brake fluid level is fine and clean. Time for a transmission fluid change maybe? Thoughts/ideas?
Thx.Mike

Slave cyl needs a lubin'.... look under the rubber booty that is on the front of the tranny, and get some grease in there... what kind of grease.... I couldn't tell ya... I think lithium grease, but I'd really like to hear a second opinion on that.

mine was doing the same thing...lube'd it up...no more squeaking....the boot is an "L" shape on my 94 civic..I'm sure they are similar.

Lithium grease is not thick enough. Use high pressure grease, the stuff that's used in wheel bearings etc. It stands up better to temperatures under the hood. BTW...the sound will eventually come back. It's not serious, just an annoying problem that's fairly common with Honda clutches.

Punk, your problem may be diff't... ours for sure is the slave cyl. Hype One, so is the Castrol high press/high temp synthetic green stuff something you'd recommend?

Yes, that is it.... peel it back carefully and insert grease in there

Someone said heavier grease is better, but this should be a good temp sol'n

bbarbulo...I just used High Pressure Moly grease from crappy tire because I had it on hand. Any high temp, high pressure grease should be fine (like axle/CV joint grease). Due to usage and under hood temperature, lithium, and other finer greases, will break down more quickly.

Ya, same place... slave cylinder

Grease 'er till she blows mate! Ummmm...no, little bit, just enough to cover moving parts and a little extra. Not like you gotta pack the boot or nothing... just a bit. You'll have to reapply it anyways every once in a while.

It's not a problem ... it's a maintenance item... like if you asked is there any way to keep tires from wearing out

I had the same thing a few months back. Went away by itself before it bothered me enough to do anything about it. I don't think its a serious enough issue to warrant fixing.. unless of course its bothering you.
