clutch
Well, I knew this was coming for a while now. My clutch is worn down terribly and last night on the way home from the meet it slipped a few times. Anyways, what kind of clutch should I get for my car? 89dx hatch. Any names in particular that make great ones? Add some prices if you know them plz I'm broke as a crackwhore.

for a 93 Si they are around $400... but they last forever... my factory clutch went about 250 000 kms.... or you could buy a shittier clutch and buy 3 or 4 of them in the same time period
fack
$328  This would be a good time to have my club card mailed to me *hint hint* :naughty: |
is that with the member discount?
no...i just called parkway and when they gave me there price i was like :kickass:
am i allowed to post the price or is it confidential? anyways, the price was discounted enough for me to REALLY NEED my card lol. |
why would anyone care?? Duy posted all his deals from some time ago...
ok well just wanted to make sure...with TCC discount it's approx $230.
you can get a OEM-replacement Exedy clutch for $94 USD or upgrade to a 90 OEM flywheel and Exedy clutch for $179 USD.

Oh, generic clutches are like $40-50 at Napa and Carquest and places like that... prolly still outlast your car. :shrugs:

well no, it's not being raced. all i plan on doing is putting in a zc in the spring.
then go cheap dude I think you'll need a new clutch when you do the swap anyways
thanks guys.
Problem: I called NAPA and Carquest and they both said approx $200 from each place. I asked for a generic clutch so I don't know if I was supposed to ask for something else that would be $40-$50?
I got one from a local store about 6 years ago for my bros old 1982 Civic 1500S, and it was $40 plus bearing. I don't think inflation on clutches is that much :p
if you can do w/o the car for a few days, you can remove the clutch and have a shop re-line it. That's super cheap too, and it's great cux you keep the stock OEM backing. |
Just buy an aftermarket clutch kit.. it'll last the life of your car for sure.
I dunno bout just a clutch plate.. i say u should replace the whole kit.. cuz most likey a prong on the pressure plate is broken or gonna break soon.. release bearing is prolly going as well.
specially if you've had the clutch for a long time and it's been worn out over time! Point is you got the tranny open, don't try to save by replacing just the clutch plate cuz you might get screwed and have to do it all over again when something else goes in there. |
well...i emailed that one website asking how much the clutch would be shipped to toronto. if it's anywhere near $200, im just gonna get an oem with tcc discount. hopefully ill get my club card soon.
found one at part source for $141
sorry to jack this thread, but how much does a clutch for a B16a2 (USDM) cost ? and what will the labour be on top of that be to replace it ?
thanks |
get a exedy organic 30 % more holding power for like 350 I've saw......if your getting a zc and just get a rebuild shitty clutch then it will slip and fry...get a exedy organic...or get a hsit cheapo clucth so you can drive then in the spring get a exedy si tranny or zc tranny and yada yada...
and to the b16a2...get a itr clucth or a exedy they will hold more than the other oem ones......I've heard 400 for a itr and relatily the same for the exedy |
i haven't found anything cheaper then $140...so i guess that is a cheap-o one.
when you say 400 does that include the install or is that the clutch minus the labour ?
that would probably be clutch minus labour because a new oem clutch for my car which is much older (not including tcc discount) is $330 from honda.
