cluster swap for a nice EF

Hey folks.

Looking for a positive response. I have a SiR cluster I want to install and replace my SI one.
Can I do it without any re-wiring.
I ask becsuse theres a cable that twists on to my Si cluster. And on my SiR cluster theres only plug and play for that area?

Really unsure of what to do, dont want to install the SIR cluster with incompleteness....Thanks

I'm not 100% on this one but I think in't similar to an issue I had when looking into converting a carb'd 87 CRX to EFI and a modern VSS for OBD1. I think the area you're talking about might have a VSS that is screwed onto the back of the Si and the cable plugs into it. This might be transferable to the new one, tho I doubt it'll work that easy. I think the best way is either to get an electronic VSS and drop that in the trans then run the wiring needed. But you may also be able to pull both clusters apart and swap you Si speedo entirely into the SiR one.

Some factors that also might matter here is with the end of the 1G CRX/3G Civic into the 2G/4G the company making Honda clusters was going thru some merger changes and some clusters in the late 80's early 90's were made by Denso, the others Nippon Sanki and then Nippon Denso was born outta that merger. You're clusters will be one of the 3, and this can effect how you need to go about using The SiR one.

Brilliant, thanks very much. I will tackle it successfully.

I know redpepperracing.com applies to the gen civic/crx before your EF but there's a few write-ups there that go into a little more detail about the diff clusters and what was needed to put what where into the 84-87 years, some of which might apply to yours and help you figure it all out.
