do you want a deck plate or a T top sleeve?

a deck plate raises the height of the deck by the specified amount, while the t top sleeves create a sort of closed deck design...

CLose it to make it a closed deck, for better sealing.........

and just for the record i ahve a magaizine somewher that actually calls it a deck plate, and tells that it has to be pressed and welded then machined. DUnno if they just put the wrong pic or what .......but yes

CLOSE THE DECK

LP could do it or you could buy the block guard from a company like STR.

then you want T top sleeves to close off the deck .. since deck plates are used to raise the hieght of the deck (to improve rod to storke ratio)

This is a Nuformz block guard.

The STR unit is similar but has waved edges to allow coolant flow, not drilled holes like the Nuformz.

These have to be welded into the top of water jackets, and if not done right you will get block distortion.

A better alternative are the Leitner T-top sleeves, which are a complete conversion closing off the top of the deck. The t-tops are thicker and stronger than the block guard pieces.

if you can afford it, t-tops are the way to go.

here's how the process is done at Leitner Performance

Before doing either of those, what do you have planned for your car? Unless you're planning to put down 400+ whp, I don't feel a block guard is necessary.

I wouldn't bother with the guard or sleeves.

not on 12.5 ... but if your block needs resleeving anyways, it's cheap insurance really... it really would be best to talk to a professional like b16civic. He'll steer you in the right direction.

To further complicate things, some people will recommend a girdle instead of a block guard. I don't think you need either though.
