Clicking Sound on my D16Y8
 

well starting from last week i have been having a problem, well heres my clicking problem, when in 2rd,3rd,sometimes in 4th,when at 2nd and 3rd between 2500-3000rpm without giving it gas.. i hear this noise clicking coming from the shifter console but cant determine the problem ( im pretty sure its not the heat shield cause i kno the difference in the sound), i havent had it on a lift yet, i have a set idea on what the problem might be but just wanted to get a different outlook

its an exhaust rattle.

Lift the car up and hit and bang your exhaust untill you find the source.

The contact is most likely occuring between the exhaust and the shift linkage, right at the first bend after the shifter. If this is the case, use some header wrap in that area preventing metal to metal contact and thus killing the clicking noise.
