Clicking comes and goes

Yesterday when I was driving there was a clicking noise every time I made a sharp left turn.

I took the wheel off and looked underneath the car everything seems to be okay. The CV boot wasn't ripped or anything.

I got into my car again this morning and the clicking went away. I took my car for a spin again at lunch and the clicking didn't come back.

What could have possibly caused the problem?

I'm going to do another inspection when I get home today. Is there anything I should look for in particular?

Btw, I drive a 97 Civic DX with 110000km on it.

clicking, as in one CLICK or a rapid succession of clicks.... like when an axle goes.

it could be an axle or engine/tranny mounts I suppose... could be susp too if. all depends on if it was one click or several.

It would only click if I have the wheel turned about 1 full rotation and it would click several times. This is the original motor and original mounts that I have in the car.

It does not make any noise when I go over bumps or when the car shakes side to side. It only clicks (sounds kinda like the wheel is rubbing against a piece of metal) when I have the wheel turned.

That is what I was suspecting but the CV boot isn't torn or anything. So I'm not sure what to think. Is there anyway to verify that it is the CV?

Is it safe to pull back the CV boot and exam the joint or will all the grease just leak out?

you can't pull back the boot, it's clamped on both sides. I would suspect the CV joint still.... sounds like the most likely cause. just let is go for a lil while, see if it gets worse.

My CV was bad and it wasn't torn so I would suspect that its still the CV definetly don't rule it out.

^^^ Did you ever replace it?

BTW, the clicking came back today. I'm picking up a drive shaft and just going to replace the whole thing.
