Question click sound in brake pedal

Recently, I've noticed a click sound coming from the brake pedal. Whenever I release the pedal, I hear a "click" coming from it. However, when I gently tap the brake, or if the pedal is not completely pressed, the sounds not there. It only appears when I release the brake pedal from it being pressed down all the way. Does anyone know what that could be? Thanks in advance for you input.

Does it happen upon initial letting off of pressure from the pedal, or upon full return to the resting position. If it happens when the pedal is initally released, then it's prob seizing o-rings in the master cylinder, and that will require a rebuild or new unit.

Then I can't help you...I suggest getting under the dash and really investigating there...it's pretty tight so watch your hands getting cut up. Feel for any loose linkages, and also see if your booster and master cyl are still attached firmly to the firewall. Start there and work your way to the inside of the system. I have found Haynes Manuals' big book of brakes to be really helpful when diagnosing break problems. It covers most break systems.

Yeah, I was wondering what he was talking about...my spelling is usually dead on, seeing as how I'm a technical writer for a living. Unless my slippery fingers wonder and hit random keys... Thanks Team Rukus!

if you have an automatic (which you prolly don't) it could be the gear shift release. you have to be on the brakes when you shift gears in an auto and you always hear a click

could be a thought?
