cleaning manifolds?

hello all, still working on my turbo project (kinda). anyways, Im looking to clean the exhaust manifold (part between cylinder and turbo).

What do u guys recommend? I'm lightly sanded it, but not sure if thats enough.

also plan on painting it black, any ideas/ thank you
