cleaning engine internals
ok.. my buddy mike and i opened up his ZC we are gonna put into his ED hatch... it was sitting for a while and has oil "deposits" all over it, caked on..
my question is: is it safe to soak the internals in solvent or "carb and choke cleaner"??? and then wipe off the oil...
what is the best and easiest way to clean the internals? do they even need to be cleaned?
i know that when we put it back together we should use moly grease... that is correct right?

moly grease on the bearings? hell no!! if you want to clean, use varsol, lots of HOT water and soap. Than use air gun to thoroughly dry. Or just leave alone. Even on used parts, the best assembly lube is clevite bearing guard for the bottom end, and clevite cam gaurd for the top end. I get mine from a machine shop. Shop around.
