Civic Problem.

I dont know if this belongs here, and I tried searching for it but no hits, anyway.

Im having trouble with my civic, It started when I was going 80 (speed limit). After a few kilometers the car slows down even if Im stepping on the gas, it would slow down to like 20-40. My friend said its like in idle even if the car is running and it slows down because of it. I dunno if it was the case but have any of you guys experience this, and can it be fixed? If so How much?

thanks, sorry if this thread does not belong in this forum.

thanks

Well it doesnt happen all the time, But it happens most of the time when Im running around 80. The problem also occur when Im going 60. It just slows down, the only way I avoid a complete stop is to step off the gas and slow down for a a few seconds (by this time Im going like 10) then I can accelerate again.

Whenever I start my car theres like a weird sound its like the car is starting 2 times.

I tried to stop at a local gas station and I tried to check, everything is ok, coolant, oil, and all the fluids are full. The thing is, the engine is running ok, but after a couple minutes the sound would change (dont know how to describe the sound change).

Another symptom is when Im at a complete stop and starts to accelerate the car vibrates a lot.

EDIT: its auto and I would like to add, I can feel the gear change, it feels stronger now than before the problem started.

Thats all I can think of so far. (maybe I need a new car)

could be your tranny is slipping, hmm...

when the problem starts, when its slowing down and u step on the gas, does the engine rev higher (RPM increases)?

if so, try adding ATF (automatic transmission fluid) if ur capable of doin it, or take it to a mechanic.....

Im actually bringing it to a mechanic tom. I just wanna check with you guys if you know what's the problem (so I wouldnt be shock if they billed me $500).

Actually I didnt notice if it increases because Im trying to accelerate as slow as I can because if I step on the gas normally the car wont accelerate it will slow down.

My option is to accelerate really slow or stop, wait a couple of minutes then go.

Its funny coz I had my hazzard light on and everyone is flashing light at me lol. And the worst part is, the way I was taking (home) has only 1 lane.

Nope, but I left it running on neutral.

Im trying to call my friend because he used it before I experienced the problem.

EDIT: After trying to convince him that I wont make him pay for the repair. He admit that he went all out and he was using "D3", he said he reached ~90-100. Does it help?

sounds like the tranny is overheating....could be a simple fix by adding ATF, or a rebuild/swap ($$$$)... but most probably ATF
goodluck, let us know what happens k

sad day... its not the transmission. The problem is one of the cylinder. The mechanic said that it has no compression or . He said that I have to change one part (forgot what its called) and its gonna cost $600 or the piston which is $1000. He said that he has to open up the engine and align it or balance it or something, that's why it cost so much. I think its cheaper to buy a used car or a new engine.

damn, that sucks I would use that as an excuse to get a b16 swap with a manual transmission

B16 is nice but too expensive for that car. Coz the body is not that good, some rust on the sides and paint chips.
