I need some info on civic engines...5th gen to be more precise. I know that engines with spark plugs situated near the rear of the valve cover are sohc non VTEC 1.5 and front located plugs are sohc VTEC 1.6 . How about 6th gen civic engines? From what I've seen they all have the plugs near the front. Are they all VTEC? I'm not familiar with 6th gen since my civics are both 5th gen. I'm looking for a possible mini-me donor engine. THX

you could look at the engine code to know if its the head you want... d16y8 would be the one

there were two engines in the 6th gen family D16Y8 and D16Y7, the 7 being the low level CX, DX, LX and SE engine and it was not VTEC

you can't tell an engine by the position of it's spark plugs ... read the engine code on the block near the exhuast manifold.

or just look for air box or position of throttle body
