Choosing ECU and Cam (SPOON?)

Hi,

Is me again, the guy from Hong Kong.

Since i knew many ppl here are expert to Civic, i really want to know the comments for Spoon ECU and camshaft.

Personally, i'm not a hardcore driver and there is no race track in HK. I drive my car daily to work. I don't want to make my car high consume of gasoline and the most important is reliable & durable~

I couldn't find a good shop to chip the ecu in HK because they won't test it on dyno, and they just base on their feelings & experieneces... so i don't trust that and i'm thinking to pick either Spoon / Jun or other brand.

Please bring up some suggestions for me.

With many thanks!
Nelson

IMO a custom tune is your best bet.
This is b/c every engine is different and may need a little more or less fuel/timing than another, exact same, setup may require.

IMO it's useless to use a company's ecu if you dont have their valvetrain set up

i'm surprise there's no dyno in HK hahaha...
well, i agreed that its better to get it custom tune... unless your motor is full built to the company specs of the company ecu...
all motors run differently based on lots of factors...

and in HK, you better not have aggressive cams haha.. as far as i know, don't you guys have heavy traffic jam all the time? high idling would kill... and i thought taking the transit is more efficient than driving in HK, i guess i'm wrong haha

I agree with you.

But in hk, the tuner who tune on dyno cost around CDN650 (i think is way too much) and for other tuner, they only set the ecu base on their experiences and the programs they have......

thats why i'm considering whether i should go with those Spoon, Jun... etc ECU or not.

What if i stick with their valvetrain too?

Like getting the spoon ecu + cam shaft + valve train? or Jun. Do you think that works?

if your gonna run a spoon ecu then just go buy a full spoon motor to go with it otherwise the program wont be right for your exact engine setup.

^^^^^thats what i was saying.
I'm sure a dyno tune costs less than a Spoon/Jun ecu.

Guess, nobody will choose those ECU these days..

In HK, tuning on Dyno cost like CDN650 (not include the ECU), and getting a used Spoon ECU is like CDN630.. So let say buying a used Full-com ECU is like doubling the price of used Spoon and Jun ECU.

Probably i just throw this plan away then~

Btw, any comments for Trust E-manage or Apexi FC?

Thanks!

no one over there use Crome?
You might need to convert to obd1, but all you need is to have your ecu chipped, then have someone make you a custom program with crome....cheap....very effective method of engine management.
