Toda drooooooollllllllll. AEM is kinda overpriced. Toda is expensive, but they make awsome parts. Go with those, or Spoon, or Mugen. Skunk 2 also makes really good stuff.

has anyone else heard other than myself something about AEM cams breaking or something like that?

Anyways, someone tell me what exactly are the differences between all the cams anyways, other than looks? I mean aren't cams just so that you can adjust the timing? Basically don't they all function the same way?

For the money I suppose Skunk2 would be best (since they look purty and function just as well as the others ), however, if you're getting the whole valvetrain package from like JUN, Toda, Spoon etc. then you should stick with the same cams obviously, just for insurance purposes i.e. you're running the car hard with complete JUN internals EXCEPT the JUN cam gear and something breaks, you can't go and bitch at JUN because they'll just laugh in your face saying that you weren't using their cam ...

Of course, that scenario will really only happen when you're running really wild cams, but ah well, things break...so I suppose it's better to be on the safe side by thinking of what you're going to do, OR go with something reliable and not push the engine too hard with major upgrades

Skunk2 cam gears have 6 adjustment points. The Aem's only have 3. And for some stupid reason the AEM's are more expensive. And you're right about them breaking, the 1st batches of AEM gears were defective.

ah yes, ok AEM is bla

so I see, more adjustment points, but is it necessarily beneficial to have more adjustment points? I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that it'll only allow it to be easier to find a better setting right?

For some reason...my speed shop is suggesting Unorthodox Racing..but I've more better things about the SKunk2's..

As for cams...I've installed Cat Stage 1 cams in my engine. I'm getting about 13more HP, but no need to change my springs and retainers..it's not a wild cam like TODA's or JUN's...

well if I was in your position, I think I'd most likely pick up the Skunk2 instead because that at least will give you the option (should you decide to do so in the future) of picking up higher stage Skunk2 cams, which I've been reading about on msg boards alot lately, good things might I add

But I don't know much or infact anything about Cat cams so ...I could be wrong

But my conclusion IS...get the Skunk2 cam gears

i've heard that the skunk2 cam gears' timing position were off a little, i remember reading an article stating that people had trouble using the degree's b-cuz the markings were wrong? have these been fixed??

and yeah, ITR vs Skunk2 -> people say if you can get the skunk2 stage1 than go for it otherwise, the ITR will be fine. they almost cost the same, but skunk2 is more preferable.
