Thumbs up Check Your Tires

I noticed that my car was handling very loose and more harsh than usual, so I checked the tire pressure. Apprx. 33-34psi in all four. Usually I have them @ about 35psi. "Filled" them up and WOW!! I didn't know that a 1-2psi difference had such an impact on handling and "comfort". Feels MUCH better now.

I suggest everyone should check your pressures everytime you fill up on gas. Doesn't take too long and helps you in the long run and tire life.

A good tire gauge is always a good investment...

90EFHB and I both have a very accurate digital pressure meter...

Better than the one attached to the air chuck...

Good investment IMO...

Yup, same was happening to me.
When I put my tires up to 35psi the car really did feel different.

it's because of the soft side walls (especially with the **** tires I've got). If there isn't enough(low) presure the tire rolls over in corners a bit which gives you this mushy feeling.

Ask anyone who does Solo or Solo II and they'll tell ya how important it is to keep the right tire presures.

air is getting colder

Its critical to check tire pressure as the air gets colder.

Last night I went to all four corners and my tire pressure had dropped considerably.

I have to put 10-12 psi in each tire!!!

afterwards the handling was greatly improved...

35psi? is that when they are cold or hot?

I normally just fill mine up to like 32psi cold....dunno if that's what it's supposed to be or not

You can find the recommended tire presures on that little sticker when you open the dirver's door.

The max tire pressure is also printed on the actual tire.

mine says 35 on the sticker, and same on the tire. So I always put my presures up to 34.5 in the front, and 34 in the rear.

don't put your rear tires up too high if you almost never have passengers in the back, or your rear end will tend to hop too much when you go over bumps.

my 2 cents

Always check/change your tire presure when the tires are cold.

Don't even bother adjusting your tire presures when the tires are hot/warm. Different tires will heat up differently depending on how and where you drive and u'll make it even worse.

Just let your car sit for like 4 hours and drive to the closest gas station like an old granny

it does show max....
check the door sill or pillar..
it'll give you recommended..
and then very from that whatever works best for you..
+/- 10% is no big deal..each car reacts/handles differently..

tire pressure should be the same, its based upon application, so even if you have 13" rims or 18" rims, or different tires, you should be at 34 psi you can't go wrpmg

yes...

The max pressure indicated on your tires, is not the same as the recommended pressure for what you should be driving with.

Thats why they have the tire pressure rating on the inside of your door, which is always different (from my experiences) from the rating on the tire.
