CHECK ENGINE LIGHT??? Please Help!
My car (93 Civic CX hatch) has a 96 GSR engine in it with obd-I ecu and I'm having the following problems:
1. CEL(Check Engine Light) doesn't always come on momentarily like it is suppose to when ignition is in the "on" position. Obviously this means that the fuel pump does not come on either. This occurs prior to start-up. When starting after this, the car idles high (approx. 1500-1750rpm) and revs up and down slightly.
2. When car starts up normally, it'll run until the CEL comes on and the car lacks power, runs rich, and wont rev past 3000rpm.
3. The car now will run without the CEL on for about 5-10 min. and then it runs rough and shuts down without me turning it off.
*I know for a fact that its not the ecu or the engine itself and I highly doubt that its a wiring issue. I'm thinking that its a bad sensor or some other electrical problem, but other then that I am lost. I've tried checking for codes and there is none! NO CODES! I know this may sound funny, but it seems like I only had problems 1. and 2. when coolant was low due to a leak. When I topped the cooling system back up, the car ran fine. This doesn't seem to be working anymore so maybe it was just a coincidence.

How can there be no code if the ECL is always on?
Are you sure whatever jumper you're using is properly stripped and is 100% conductive metal? Are you using a paperclip? Did you properly push it in the diag harness beneath the glove box?

I've had a mechanic who specializes in Hondas and swaps check for codes and there is none. That is why we're so confused by this problem. He even tried putting in his own jdm p72 (I'm running USDM gsr ecu) and the problems persisted and there were no codes once again.

It could be a lot of things.
1) vacuum lines not plugged in properly (check the line in the back of the intake manifold)
2) sensor not wired up properly (maybe iac valve)
3) fast idle control valve
4) fuel pump not working properly
Not revving past 3000rpm, in limp mode because of what ever is wrong. I'd say take it to who installed it or to someone who know their ****. Hope this helps and sorry if it does not.
