Cheapest shop for lowering springs?

Cheapest place in GTA to buy lowering springs and have them installed for '01 Si Coupe? I'm looking for a mild 0.75" to 1" drop at best to accommodate the new 17" x 7" I recently threw on. I want to keep the stock struts for now.

I'll even consider a used set if anyone is selling. I won't take them if they drop the car more than 1".

Thanks in advance.

H&R OE Sport...

You could get them for $270 if you were a member...

Installs gonna be around $80 - $100...

But after some research is unavailable currently for your model..

Coil - Overs should not be considered an option...

Still looking..

My new wheels

I got a brand called "Speedy". The model is known as "Pursuit" in a silver with thin 5-spokes, open lugs, in 17" x 7". Got 'em at Tire Mag in northwest Toronto. Tires are 215/20HR17 Michelin Pilot XGT H4 all seasons. Rides and handles better than stock Firestones on 15" wheels.

H&R springs sound like the way to go for now.

I'm running those same tires. They're great tires but be careful, they're not too great in the snow (better than some all-seasons though).

I got my H&R's from Speedtech for $400. Thats springs, tax, and install included. Install took about 1/2 hour. I didn't even have time to finish my coffee. That's service.

I got H&R's installed

I just got H&R Sport Springs installed yesterday for a 1.3" drop with factory struts. I wanted H&R OE Sports, but they don't make 'em for the '01 Civics.

I got 'em at Hi-Tech in Richmond Hill and paid too much ($510 + taxes) by the sounds of it. I did call around to 6 shops before hand and got quotes over the phone of $450 to $500 depending on the springs. I assumed they all charged taxes. Since Hi-Tech was the only ones that had the H&R's in stock and had the time to throw them on immediately, I went for it. I kick myself for not checking back for your replies to my thread. Oh well, it's all done and even got a 4 wheel alignment done this afternoon at a Honda dealer. It looks awesome and handle alot better, but the potholes and manholes are something to watch for as the shocks seem to bottom out.

On the way out of the Honda dealer, I had pulled a tight right turn and scored my R. rear 17" wheel. ****, I just bought them on Tuesday! Serves me right for driving on 215/40 series with no lip protector for the rim. Too lazy to throw back on the stock Si rims as I'm hoping for better weather in 6 weeks.

H&R springs your application....$270

Install $100...

$400 total...

Cost of alignment

$99.95 + taxes (CDN dollars). They did to factory specs or as close as possible.

heh heh...one word

they didn't have to align the fronts did they?? shouldn't have..
not even the rears actually, the only thing that should be there is a slight camber to the rears..

Alignment was needed

I had called up several performance shops for advice on whether to get an alignment or not and 95% said yes! My steering seemed perfect after the lowering, so I originally thought why waste the $$ on an alignment. Turns out Honda dealer said the front wheels were turned in slightly (toe was off). So, it is better to get it done for the added peace of mind.

Alignment

No, but I saw the computer screen right at the service bay. The amount the alignment was out was very little and a camber kit was not needed according to the mechanic that did the alignment.

Check out my 2001 Honda Civic Si at my website at:

yer *** end is gonna sink a little more..but that's a good thing..

it'll settle over a few weeks yet, might have been better to hold off on the alignment until then..

H&Rs aren't suppose to have a settling period

H&R told me on the phone their springs are pre-sprung and won't drop anymore than it has in a few days. I don't believe them, but I will know soon. As for the alignment, the mechanic said it'll make no difference to do it now or in a month as there's no camber adjustment anyway. Correcting the toe was all he could do and doing it now is just as good.

Thanks for all the advise.
