Cert. Help!
 

Alright I am not really sure where to post this but I need to bring my car in for cert soon but no where will do a pre-cert check for low coin.. They all want 70 bucks to tell me if it will pass or fail and I know it will fail I just need to know what it needs for cert. As far as I know your tires have to be good, full exhaust in working order no holes. Blinkers, wipers, horn, brakes, e-brake. all mirrors, No cracks in the glass and no major holes in the body. But I am not sure what else. As far as I can tell all I am missing is the muffler and tires. If anyone knows where I can find a full list or can tell me everything I need to pass cert that would be great!

Alright one other quick question that wasnt ansered.. Does it matter what rims or tires I use? My dad says to put the stock 13s on but they need new rubbers.. 4 new rubbers equals lotta coin.. Or should I take that money and invest in two new tries for my 17s. As long as they are DOT legal and have all the tread that should be good right? and save up for some snows for the steelies?

Why don't you fix the muffler and the tires first then take it for a check.

Honestly why spend the $70 when you know it's going to fail.

Well because I am not positive even with the muffler and the tires it will pass.. And as far as I know if you take it in you have like 10 days to get it fixed and bring it back or you have to pay another 70 bucks??

well its pretty easy to check all of the things on the list man..

jack the car up and take a look at the body, do a light check, listen to any un-usual squeeks,grinds,etc when turning your wheel or driving.

Well from looking at it and everything I think it just needs a muffler and tires.. Now if I throw DOT legal tires on my 17s I can use thoes right.. And I am going to pop the rear drums and look at em.. How much pad needs to be left on them for them to pass cert?

Why don't you do yourself a favour and spend some $$$ to fix your ride.

First off if your muffler has hole in it. fail

If the 17" are in good shape and have lots of tread I don't see why you can't use them.

Brake shoes are $60ish dealership price. You might be able to cheaper and buy them at CT, NAPA, etc.,

I have.. I've spent the last week and every penny I have trying to get this thing good to go. I am just asking what they are looking for.. I've covered everything. I am going to get a cheep stock muffler until I can get mine off my old car and I am going to use my dads rims to pass cert. The brakes I am positive are fine but my dad insists I check em out. So i am just wondering how much pad has to be left for a pass..

If you would just answer that question insted of telling me to fix up my car befor I bring it in, which I am doing, that would be alot better.
