CEL Code P1457 Evap Caninster System Leak...HELP!!

I've got a CEL code P1457 "Evaporative emissions (EVAP) control system leakage (evap canister system)" on my 99 DX Hatch. Does anyone have any advise as to how to go about fixing this problem? Thanks

replace the gas cap is your first try. If that isnt the problem just find the cannister, its under the hood to the passengers side, and check for leaks, It can be anywhere from the fuel tank cap to the intake manifold. Probalby the cap though, Sure its a leak. Usually 1457 is an evap problem a solenoid not operating. done tonnes of those. if you want to have a little more info pm me and i ll let you know

Usually a gas cap would throw a P1456 code. Without proper diagnosis, it is hard to say what is exactly wrong. With a PGM tool, you can do a function test on the evaporative emissions system which would help you find what is wrong.

If I were to take a guess, I would personally start with a cannister vent shut valve.

What is the mileage on the car anyway? This might still be under warranty. I believe it is 130,000 km for emissions warranty. If you have warranty, go to the dealer.

I think that’s the same code I had a while back, turns out I just didn’t turn the gas cap all the way till you hear it click a couple times. Just rest the CEL and make sure your gas cap is on good and tight (might help as well if you add some more fuel if your running dry)
