Which Catch Can setup? Pics Included
Theres so much info everywere, ive searched , Ive narrowed it down to these 3 setups, The first three are easier to do, so Im wondering if theyll do the job, running low boost ?

look into the Krank Vent mini system, i used this on the last turbo build i did and it worked very well. Cheap, easy to install, doesn't take up any space and very effective.

well since u're open air to crankcase emissions either with a breather on the valve cover or on the catch can thats "defeation of emmission control system" and thats $345 ticket... http://www.et-performance.com/

You need to use a closed system which burns crankcase vapours through the intake by using the the pre turbo as a vacume source. This is how I have my system routed.

i assume you mean the VC Charles. The breather does suck in air to help push all the vapours out of the crankcase through the pcv port.
Look at the arrows in the picture, it helps explain it a bit better. What I ran was: breather on the VC and the pcv line was connect to a catch can, the other line was connected to a pre-turbo slash. Worked fine I guess. As long as your pcv line is connected to a vac. source its cool. Personally if I was to do it again and wasn't worried about emission I'd do an exhaust slash.. |
the crank vent mini basically replaces the factory PCV system that was never designed to see boost. Its basically just a glorified PCV valve (actually 2). It uses two valves, 1 replaces the factory pcv valve that works in vacuum and then closes in boost, the other valve in the system goes between the valve cover and to either atmosphere or pre-turbo, this valve never sees boost and stays open while the other one is closed (to not let boost into the crankcase) to allow pressure out of the crankcase.
IMO it works very very well, is uber-easy to install, and doesn't add a bunch of hoses or an ugly (IMO) catch can under the hood. These valves can hold up to like 120psi (or something rediculous like that) and are guaranteed not to fail. http://automotivespeed.com/product_i...products_id=49 |
