Catalytic Converters
I'm looking for some brand names of high flow catalytic converters from poeple who have experience with them. My Magnaflow cat fell apart internally after 8 months of use, my mechanic had the same problem with his and he's had several customers with the same problem, apparently the vibrants aren't much better, but I don't know. I know some people who's magnaflows have held up fine, but more who have had problems. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know, thanks.

i've heard the same thing myself, but a great deal of ppl's magnaflow cats have held up over time. Warranty?

some have problems with it, some doesn't...
i'm cool with my magnaflow one... |
We have never had any problems with the magnaflow cats at our shop. When a cat falls apart it is usually due to an engine performing incorrectly. The magnaflow cats also have a 5 year warrenty.

Im still running my stock cat but Ive heard great things about Random Technology cats.

Yup I have gone through two magnaflow cats. One broke apart internally and the other had a small pin hole leak right on the manifold. As any actually claimed warranty on these? Had of known I would have done that exact thing.

on jackson racing .com they have a great deal on a stainless steel cat (hi flow) and it is nice! I picked one up for my car and it was a direct bolt in with the flanges and the bung for the O2....you cant go wrong...total cost was about 130...total shipped.

I have a Carsound (Magnaflow) cat. Been using it for around 25,000 km's and it's fine. It starts to smell every now and then cuz it has surpassed it's life expectancy, but it still runs. I'll change it next year when it comes time for emission testing.

Vibrant metal core spiral race cat. supports over 200whp on my set up, no problems, daily driven. the key to catalytic survival is a finely tuned car. i've had cats and mufflers fail when the car is constantly running a rich st8 of tune.

how much do they usally go for?
