I had a problem with backfiring and it turned out to be my distributor.

check your first obvious thing.... air flow path (dirty air filter, dirty throttle plate) Make sure its all clear. Then check how much spark your getting.

ok if it's backfiring you are running VERY rich and something is messed up...ever think that hey it was runnign fine before the o2 sensor and header install....well I'd think they fouled the o2 install and your running messed because of that...either way take it back and say "it wasn't spitting flames when I brought it to you )..." let them worry abotu it cause it was their **** up

Do a tune-up, plugs, wires, etc... then see what happens.

Your timing is probably screwed. Double check it.

why not first let us know what modifications you've done so that we can first rule one of those out... do you have bigger injectors? different intake? different exhuast?

You won't need a fuel pressure regulator.. Just fix the timing.. I'm almost sure that's what it is

as far as mods go i have a CAI, Header and cat-back exhaust. I'm gonna get the timing done this week, i was also thinking that is it possible that compression could be low in a cylinder?? I hope its just the timing. anyhow, i'm gonna get the timing checked and have it dyno tuned this week so hopefully i can get that problem solved. thanks

This will help u.

1. Your camshaft timing belt or chain may have slipped

2. Your ignition timing needs adjusting.

3. There is a serious engine problem.

4. Your spark plug wires are placed on the wrong spark plugs.
