Car won't turn off

Well, i finally started my car up today, first time since spring. I was having a problem last year with not being able to turn the car off. I'd traced the problem to the alternator/ fuel pump circuit, and used a toggle switch on that to turn off the car. So, over the summer i got a new voltage regulator for the alternator thinking that it was back feeding the car. This did not help. Anybody have some other suggestions...

No, i tried changing the igintion wiring harness in the steering column last year. Then changed the harness back cuz the other is cut up. Ill try the one from the from the beater though but its doubtful...

possibly the a stuck main relay.... could be stuck on... (I'd explain the physics of why this could be but it would take too much time ... simply put it has to do with magnatic fields in the coil that operates the relay... after time a residueal effect starts to build... I'd look there....

I was testing the main relay yesterday to make sure the fuel pump was working fine (car wouldn't start i thought the pump might be bad but it was just that i had no fuse in cuz of the aformentioned problem). I could hear the relay engaging and releasing with the application of voltage, also i had continuity in the proper spots. So im thinking not the relay either, although i will look into further testing...

well if it's engaging and releasing with the proper input I think I'd rule that out too....

So you can take the key out of the ignition and the car will still run?? while this is happening, unplug the connector at the back of the key cylinder. if it shuts off, replace the key cylinder assembly. If it keeps going, move down the line to the main relay, and down the line, and down the line... cuz don't forget, you need both ignition and fuel to keep running, so they are not independent (ie. bad fuel pump) cuz even if the fuel pump kept going, the spark would have to stop, and the engine would stall.... so it's something between the key and the main relay.

Heres todays attempt: with the car running i turned off the car and unplugged the igition, still running. So, i pulled the main relay, car stops. I went and took the main realy out of the beater (same part #) and installed. Still though the key does not turn off the vehicle. But, pulling the main relay once again stops it. What would you suggest is next "down the line"... Check out this shot, kinda freaky!

Well, the rewiring of my car is in the engine bay. I put a b16a in last year. The wiring was done by djxquizt who made up the harness in his shop then brought it over. Nick swears up and down that the problem is not in his wiring. So, i could take pics of my ecu and my new vtec soleniod and my multi point injection.....

i cant see how it has anything to do with multi - point DPFI-MPFI conversion,

i think you have a plug in the wrong position on the main fusebox,

No, i don't think it has anything to do with the fuel injection either, i was just using that as examples of the changes i've made to the wiring for gatherer who wanted some pictures... I don;t see how he could troubleshoot from pics. Now matt how could the plug be in the wrong position? From my experence they only fit in one spot. i will check this out though. Im open for any ideas.

your ign. switch is gone i have replaced hundreds of these due to that problem.
even if you unplug it,it will continue to run because you are not sending a signal to the ecu to turn off.
hope that helps.
